Evanston, Illinois is a suburban city in Cook County, Illinois, United States, bordered by Chicago to the south, Skokie to the west, and Wilmette to the north, with a population of 74,78 in 2004. It is one of the North Shore communities that adjoin Lake Michigan. Evanston is the home of Northwestern University. "E-Town" is a nickname used often by Evanston's youth.
